Things to not do after a long carrier as a fighter: Pick up the spanish guitar. Why? Well, rasgueo is a technique in which you, in turn, extend each of your fingers, starting with the pinky, and hit each string in sequence. Makes a fast sort of trilling strum. Because I've been doing a lot of martial arts practice my fingers tend to want to go the other way, so at a certain point they stop. That means I can't do a proper rasgueo at all. The best I manage is a weak imitation, which does not sound as good. It doesn't sound bad, but not good either. Therefore, my fingers are protesting quite clearly to my current typing, and this will have to be a short post. So, to end this, I'm not about to give up on the Spanish guitar, enjoying it too much for that. I will say that the rasgueo will no doubt cause me pain in the future, but I'll have to find a way to make it work for me. After all, I'm not aiming to be a new Paco de Lucia, just an average guy being able to use the technique instead of mastering it. Ok, I admit it, the last sentence was bull. Yes, I'll never be good, but by gods, I'll make damned sure I'm as good as I can be. So, ye damned impossible techniques of the Spanish guitar, here I come to learn you all. Even if I'm restricted by fingers not used to operating independently of each other.
Oh, yeah, also, check out the poll on the right. I'm thinking about starting a video blog on YouTube. Any thoughts on this? I'll give you guys a few days to poll it. Spread the word, no?
